Daywear Cravat

A daywear cravat, often referred to as an Ascot tie, is one of the most popular vintage trends to have infiltrated men's formal fashion. The cravat was originally used to hide a mucky shirt and catch spillages from the evenings banquet, but it has managed to make its way to the top of the formal wear trend chart- and stay there. As a predecessor of the bow tie and neck tie we are all familiar with, cravats were in fact the original neck wear. It has been deemed such a vital element of formal attire that it has its own yearly celebration, Cravat Day, on October 18th (yes, really).
